In celebration of the Tour de Fleece there will not be a shop update this month, instead I offer you the following discount code: WPTDF2011

The 15% discount code is valid from July 2nd – 24th!

Keep in mind that even thought there is not a scheduled update – items will be added, randomly, to the shop inventory. If you have not already done so, this might be a good time to subscribe to the RSS Feed

Note: The discount code only applies to items in the shop inventory. Club Subscriptions and special orders are excluded from this offer.

I had hoped for great things this tour, instead, I find myself acting as cheerleader for ITW Ravelry Team and “sometime spinner”. Rest assured “sometime” spinner is better then not spinning at all – so NO complaints from me!! Now for a little background…

This year the Tour de Fleece starts Saturday July 3rd and runs until Sunday July 25th, 2010. And for those of you who are unfamiliar with the Tour de Fleece  -  guidelines can be found on the  Ravelry Forum.

The “rules” – more like “guidelines are simple:

1) Spin every day the Tour rides, if possible. Saturday July 3rd through Sunday July 25th. Days of rest: Monday July 12th, Wednesday July 21st. (Just like the actual tour)

2) Spin something challenging Thursday July 22nd. (The Tour’s toughest mountain stage from Pau up the legendary Col du Tourmalet)

3) Take a button if you want one. Then we can use the button on our blogs in show of solidarity. Take it from here or grab a clean one from the flickr pool. While you are at it – join the flickr pool!

4) Wear yellow on Sunday July 25th to announce victory. Why not wear yellow on any day you feel particularly successful? (Yellow is the color of the race leader in the Tour – but here we are all ‘race leaders’) – Other colors if desired: Green (sprinter – think FAST), Polka-dot (climber – as in uphill), and white (rookie)

Some may ask – WHY? or What is the purpose?

It can be best described by the founder of the tour: “The concept is simple, They spin, we spin. A real spinning themed spin-along.”

So, there you have it! What are your spinning goals for the Tour?

Sorry for my absence as of late. Summer is here and ’round these parts that is when we make bank. Well, not really ‘bank’ but enough to get through the winter.

Although my posting slowed down during the tour, my spinning did not! I am proud to declare that I was able to keep to my commitment of at least 15 minutes a day – even with work schedule’o'madness. And I am even prouder to admit that I started to knit a pair of socks from one of the tour yarns.

Betcha didn’t even know that I knew how to knit.

Oh, and the real (or at least the most exciting) purpose of this arbitrary photo-less post…

I received over 50lbs of new fiber from one of (yes, exactly “one of” – in the past month I have applied for and been approved by two new wholesale accounts) my new suppliers.

Some new fibers you will soon see in the shop:

Merino/Silk

Merino/Tencel

Merino/Cashmere

BFL

Corridale

Wensleydale

So I fell right off that tracking with my Tour de Fleece coverage. But, I am allowed to as I am part of the Lantern Rouge team. But…

Tour de Fleece - 15 Minutes a day

I have not broken my commitment of 15 minutes a day so I am overjoyed to be in the caboose of the race! If I can get caught up on all my chores this weekend I hope to start the other two ounces of Dinoflagellates and maybe try some core spinning!
